Performing automatic password reset saves the domain user from the probable frustration caused due to lost password or time taken by IT professionals to reset password thereby losing a lot of time. Also, there are Companies who are accustomed to perform automatic password reset complying with their company policies for the sake of security of data. In order to perform automatic password resets through Chily Active Directory Self Service, the administrator has to configure the tool for a particular scheduled time interval. Also, the software utility sends notification email informing the end user about the password expiry and password value which will be set automatically.

After the administrator "allows" the automatic password reset feature, he will have to select the time interval after which the application will scan the systems with expired passwords and automatically reset expired passwords. After performing this task, an administrator can mention the new password that he will set in place of expired password in the 'Password Value' text field. This value is sent as an email notification informing users about the changed password value. Administrator can configure the feature as per the company-compliance schedule and can check the following fields as per the requirements:

• Daily
• Every Week
• Every Month

Password value is the default value which will be set in case automatic reset domain user password is allowed. Administrator resets password to this default password value while configuring automatic password reset which can be same as "logon name" or "abcde".

The automatic password reset is notified to all the users beforehand by the administrator in the form of notification email which is sent to all the users of the domain. This forewarning of password reset minimizes the possibilities of account unlocks and password loss issues thereby saving on large amount of time and adding to the productivity.
